PROGRESSIVE ARTIST MANAGEMENT SIGNS NASHVILLE-BASED EMERGING ROCK TALENT RUSTY SHIPP TO A WORLDWIDE ARTIST REPRESENTATION AGREEMENT

News Image Laguna Beach, CA/Nashville, TN – December 29, 2020

Progressive Artist Management, a force in the music business for many years in artist promotions and artist management has announced the signing of Nashville’s up and coming rock sensation Rusty Shipp to their roster as a “Represented Artist”.

Progressive’s primary goal will be to work with Rusty Shipp’s personal manager, Joy Soleil to secure a recording or publishing deal and also to promote the band worldwide, seeking multiple opportunities including Tours, TV and Film placements.

Rusty Shipp is taking up the torch passed down from rock legends of the past five decades; to hold it up in an age when main stream music has seemed to have given up on rock bands. Their music is a fusion of primarily grunge and surf rock styles that follows the band's nautical theme and concept albums. The result of this zeal is their new concept album, ‘Liquid Exorcist,’ which keeps with the group’s nautical theme and was “meticulously crafted to get stuck in a human being’s brain” says front man, Russ T. Shipp.

Thus far in 2020, Rusty Shipp has won Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and three other awards in the 2020 JFH Awards, was nominated for Alternative Rock Artist of 2019 in The Grizzly Awards, and was named top 40 artists of 2019 by Effect Radio. ‘Liquid Exorcist’ was named #1 album of 2019 by WBFJ (Crossroad Radio), #9 Album of 2019 on The Antidote podcast, and #10 Album of 2019 in the JFH Staff Picks on Jesus freak hide out.com, alongside of artists like Switchfoot, Disciple, and Demon Hunter). Breaking Waves’ was nominated for Alternative Rock Song of 2019 in The Grizzly Awards and was named #9 song of 2019 on WBFJ (Crossroad Radio).

Rusty Shipp currently has three radio singles charting in the Top 50 on Christian Music Weekly’s Rock Chart (the only artist who currently has more than two singles charting in the Top 50), and the single ‘Liquid Pendulum’ has been in the Top 10 on the USA Rock Radio charts for the past 7 weeks to date (3 weeks at #1) according to Big Big Hit. ‘Show Me How to Live’ is in regular rotation on Radio U and Lightning 100 (Nashville FM rock station) where it was DJ Casey’s ‘DJ Pick of the Week.’

The first single, ‘Breaking Waves’, which describes the war between technology and nature, was accompanied by a music video shot on a submarine and was the first glimpse into the world of ‘Liquid Exorcist’ which revolves around a story of sea mine terrorism in the 40’s. The group has had premieres, features and interviews on CCM Magazine, HM Magazine, Jesus freak hideout.com, New Release Today, Radio U, Christian Rock 20, Cross Rhythms (UK), Effect Radio, and many others, including Nashville’s FM rock stations Lightning100 and 102.9 The Buzz. They have also played concerts with artists such as Saliva, Tantric, Smile Empty Soul, Chuck Mosley (Faith No More /Bad Brains), and Kevin Max (dc Talk), and front man Russ T. Shipp performs acoustically every week in a live video with the band’s fan community, ‘ The Shipp mates’.

“We have been in contact with George Schmid and the Progressive Artist team throughout 2020 and we are excited to enter into a formal agreement to further the opportunities for the band,” says manager Joy Soleil. “We feel that this partnership will expand our global reach and increase our fan base in an effort to bring the band’s music to a new level.”

George Schmid, founder and CEO of Progressive Artist Management elaborated further. “We have many great artists on our roster, but Rusty Shipp brings a creative uniqueness and intensity we rarely experience. The team is very excited to work with them.”

Rachel Lorin

News Image One look at Rachel Lorin and you might wonder why she did not pursue a career as a top model instead of a rock star singer.

The irony is that she “did” start that way.

In Georgia, at the age of 9, she was scouted on the street by an agent with Elite Models and began her career as a model/actress.

Rachel had also been in numerous commercials, print ads, and a couple of movies. However, she began developing a passion for singing after beating out 10,000 other kids to sing the Anthem at the US Open when she was 12 years old, as well as being the youngest cast member in Disney’s High School Musical 1 and 2 stage productions.

She started out as a pop singer after being cast in Oxygen’s “The Next Big Thing” at 16 years old and was featured in a dance song with Pitbull (Burning up the Club) at 18. But, her heart was truly drawn to rock music. So, after all the obstacles and people trying to talk her out of the genre, she made up her mind and jumped feet first into the world of rock by recording a cover of Def Leppard’s Love Bites. This effort did extremely well and is in the official Def Leppard archives.

The rest is history, and she had been able to follow her dreams thanks to her parents love and support.

Fast forward… In the past two years, Rachel has opened for numerous rock legends and toured the US and parts of Europe. She has been featured at Rock Fest, on the Monsters of Rock Cruise, Namm 2018, played legendary clubs like the Whiskey in LA (5 times so far) and had her single “I Hate You” climb the Billboard charts to # 39.

Of her favorite originals, “I Hate You” (co-written with Pat Gaspernini) and “Revolution” (produced by Earl Cohen), which is all about loving yourself with an underlying anti-bullying theme, are of special importance. Rachel is a fighter and believes in fighting for others.

Her motto is “Eat, Breathe and Sleep Music”, and to reach people with her talent and put smiles on faces. And it’s all happening.

Recently signed by Frontiers (Sony distribution), plans are underway for a new album to be released in 2018. They intend to produce a Led Zeppelin, Anne Wilson vibe with tracks being laid down in Milan, Italy, and Nashville with Rachel’s soaring vocals leading the way.

And, of course, there will be new songs, more radio play, new tours scheduled and quality time with her family and friends. We can’t wait to hear Rachel’s new music!

Rachel Lorin… amazing writer, performer, rock singer and without a doubt, a modeling gig here and there.

Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise # 29 - Just Peace and Music

Just spent 8 days sailing the Caribbean on the 29th Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise. Some of the best blues artists on the planet performed almost 24/7, including many late night/early morning jams. They all know each other but don’t get to be in one place together for a week very often, so they make the most of it and continually join their fellow artists and friends on stage. This is the brainchild of legendary Roger Naber, blues industry veteran of over 37 years and twice awarded “Blues Promoter Of The Year” by The Blues Foundation. Years ago, Johnny Winter played this and said, “This Blues Cruise was better than Woodstock”, or the way many of us describe it, “This is Woodstock on a Boat.” There were usually 3 acts going on at once at various venues on the ship, the most popular being outside on the top pool deck where the main stage was set up. Walking up to within 10 feet of any stage to watch the artists was easy. Every act was excellent. But in our opinion, 77 year old Buddy Guy had two shows; and his final night up on the pool desk was so amazing… so much energy, roaming through the crowd, Hendrix style guitar… fast, and perfect – talk about a pro – talk about a legend.

There were many other incredible artists like Tommy Castro… I had heard about him and his soulful guitar for years but had never seen his show, and he did not disappoint. He was probably a “guest” on other performer’s stages more than anyone else, so he is clearly a homegrown favorite. Another top guitar player was Monster Mike Welch. He was everywhere with his “amazing” guitar riffs and solid presence. Victor Wainwright knocked us all out for many reasons – one of the best piano and keyboard players anywhere. And with that deep Memphis soul, you cannot make this up. And talk about a great band behind him “The Train” with outstanding brass, bass, drums and superb lead guitar. Of course, Coco Montoya was a constant and filled the air with his “singing” guitar to everyone’s delight. With every performance the crowd was on their feet.

To round things out, you had many flat out amazing sax players rotating with the acts, like Nancy Wright, wonderful vocalists, keyboard players; and every drummer we saw was a wow! And then, Chris Cain on guitar… cannot explain his intensity. Chris could entertain a stadium with his guitar all by himself. Not enough time to mention all the other great acts here, but Samantha Fish and Keb’ Mo’ were also standouts. Elvin Bishop was so powerful we would need to write another article just about him.

The artists all ate with the concert goers in the various eating establishments and had drinks together, breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night snacks… no walls… just peace and music.
